Office 365 Email: Settings for Android Phones

Note: On some Android devices there is not an option to update the settings in Outlook Email accounts. For these devices you will need to delete the pre-existing DSD Mail account and set up a new account.

Deleting an existing DSD Email account from the phone

  • From the Home screen, tap on the Apps button

  • Tap on Email
  • Tap on the Menu button (3 dots) in the upper right corner and choose Settings from the drop-down list

  • Tap on Manage Accounts
  • Tap on the Menu button (3 dots) in the upper right corner and choose delete account from the drop-down list
    Check the box in front of the DSD Mail account
  • Tap on Done
  • Tap on OK

 

Setting up a new DSD Email account

  • From the Home screen, tap on the Apps button

  • Tap on Email
  • Tap on the Menu button (3 dots) in the upper right corner and choose Settings from the drop-down list

  • Tap on Manage Accounts
  • Tap on the + in the upper right corner 
  • Type in the email address for the account
  • Type in the password for the account
  • Check the box to “Send email from this account by default” if it is an option
  • Tap on Manual setup in the lower left corner
  • Tap on Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync
Enter the following for the Exchange server settings:
  • Domain\username: Delete what is in the box and type in the DSD Email address for the account
  • Note: If Domain and Username are separate boxes in your version of Android, leave the Domain box empty, and type your full DSD Email address in the Username box
  • Exchange server: Type outlook.office365.com 
  • Make sure Use secure connection (SSL) is checked
  • Tap on Next
  •  You will then see a “Remote Security Administration” message
  • Tap on OK
  • Change the following settings for the email account:
  • Period to sync Email: set to All
  • Sync schedule: set to Push
  • Email retrieval size: set to no limit
  • Period to sync calendar: set to all calendars
  • Check the Sync settings next to everything except Text Messages
  • Tap on Next

  • On the Set up email screen, type a name for the account, i.e. DSD Mail, Work, etc.
  • Tap on Done
  • Note: For the first initial sync of the email, you will need to have at least 3 bars of reception.
Note: Office 365 Outlook email requires that a passcode is set up on the phone. If there is not a passcode set for the phone, you will be prompted to set a passcode.
